Why Alpacas?

I started out smitten with these creatures and looking for a new adventure.  OK, call it a mid-life crisis!  I simply had no idea what I was in for.  As often happens one thing leads to another and I now have a yarn addiction.  First I learned to spin; then it was felting.  Next came weaving and now I have a really bad knitting habit.  Who knew?  And yes, I am still smitten.  They are a joy to behold everyday.  You just can’t not smile when you look in the barn and see them with hay hanging out of their mouths and not a care in the world.  There is very special sense of peace when you are caring for the animal that provides the yarn that made the hat you are wearing at that particular moment.  I can’t explain it.  If you are a knitter you really want to try alpaca yarn - it is softer and warmer than a hug!  The alpacas also make wonderful companions and give me plenty of time outdoors for fresh air and exercise!  Earth friendly processing, from fleece to finished products!
